I am a concerned parent.

"One of the devices that predators use in the interactions with kids is sending them explicit photos of themselves.  What they're trying to do is sort of deaden the nerve endings.  They're trying to beat down the resistance.  It's part of the grooming process to normalize what they're trying to do.  And it's pretty insidious."

Children

  • There are several obvious signs to help you know whether or not your child may be in danger of an online predator. Here are some indicators:
  • - If your child spends extreme amounts of time online.
  • - If your child receives gifts in the mail from senders that you do not recognize.
  • - If your child is receiving phone calls from a number you don't recognize.
  • - If your child quickly switches the computer screen when you enter the room.
  • - If your child becomes obsessed with being online, and becomes upset when it is not accessible.

If you notice any of these things, you should immediately communicate with your child. Find out what is happening to ensure their safety!
